The church of Rahon was first mentioned in the twelfth century by the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa in 1165, then in 1184 by Pope Lucius III who confirmed its possession at the abbey of Château-Chalon. Of this first building we know little except that a chapel belonged to Henri de Longvy, lord of Rahon. This first church probably disappeared during the looting of Rahon by the troops of Louis XI in 1479\. These indeed burn the village, without taking the castle. The Lords of Longvy decided to build a new building on the site of the old, at the beginning of the 16th century. The vault of the choir and its north side door are fenced with their coat of arms «azure to the gold band». By marriage of the last heiress of the Longvy, the seigneury of Rahon passed into the hands of the Ryes, when Joachim de Rye married in 1533 Antoinette de Longvy.
