It is considered a true marvel of Gothic architecture, built partly on stilts and having a facade, with its three flamboyant portals, work of Martin Chambiges, famous master mason in Paris of the 16th century. The Saint-Paul tower has been unfinished since 1545\. In addition, it reports one of the largest areas of historiated glass windows in France (1500 m 2) with stained glass windows from the 13th century in the choir and 15th and 16th centuries in the nave. This constitutes a fantastic picture book for the study of the evolution of stained glass art over the centuries. Since 1793, it has also housed the organ of the Abbey of Clairvaux, behind the large 8m diameter rose window.
Son Trésor notably contains the Châsse de Saint-Bernard of Clairvaux, a red silk liturgical ornament embroidered with 53 medallions from the 13th century and a beautiful collection of mosan and Limousin enamels, relics, insignia (12th century – 13th century).
