Biology Collection (Building B4, Faculty Avenue):
Speaker: Andrée Azriel Boutin, Collections Manager.
Within the museum, you can admire collections of great diversity, including an impressive collection of lepidoptera. The oldest of them, collected between 1886 and 1932, are the result of the work of eminent collectors Joseph Marie Manon, Paul-Édouard de Sandt and Émile Schirber. Butterflies, as bio-indicators of environmental health, play a crucial role. Their disappearance would endanger an essential part of animal biodiversity.
Prehistoric Collection (Pacea Lab, Building B2, Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire Drive):
Speaker: Dominique Armand, Collections Manager.
The second collection is an osteotec. It mainly includes teeth, mammal bones, bird bones, fish skeletons and shells. The archaeologists at the Pacea laboratory use it to identify animal remains found in archaeological sites.
Access to these academic collections will allow you to dive into exciting research areas and benefit from their educational value. They testify to the diversity and evolution of the living world in a lively and captivating way.
