The Sainte-Blandine chapel is the disused chapel of the old Sainte-Blandine hospital. After renovation work, it reopened to the public in the summer of 2024.
The Sainte-Blandine chapel is the last great building of the Annexation. The construction of this chapel began in 1907, just after the inauguration of two emblematic buildings: the station and the Temple Neuf. It therefore benefits from the know-how of the architects, artists and craftsmen of the time. Completed in 1910, the chapel was designed by Wilhelm Schmitz, then chief curator of the heritage of Lorraine and architect of the reconstruction of the cathedral after Tornow.
The chapel illustrates the desire to build the city of tomorrow while valuing historical heritage. It is a striking example of the syncretic style specific to the period, with Gothic windows and crenels on the annex building located on Gendarmerie Street. The interior of the chapel is in neo-Romanic, neo-Gothic and neo-Carolingian style, with figurative stain
