Collegiate Saint-Étienne was built at the beginning of the XIVth century on the location of the old(former) Romance church placed under the term of Saint Félix. It is a beautiful example of southern Gothic that is attributed(awarded) to Jacques de Fauran, architect of the second campaign(countryside) of the cathedral Saint-Just de Narbonne. The sponsor(sleeping partner) is Bernard de Fargues, the archbishop of Narbonne (1311-1341) and Lord of Capestang. The apse is remarkable with its vault in seven pieces. The height under key (26,5m) is on the scale of a cathedral, but only the chorus(choir) could be realised.
