Der Mensch ist zum Produzenten seines eigenen Lebensunterhalts geworden und nicht mehr ein Raubtier, er beeinflusst nun seine Umwelt und setzt sich sedentarisch fort. Er baute die ersten Dörfer und die ersten Nekropolen, errichtete die Megalithen, die ersten großen Architekturen der Welt. Eine Reihe von technischen Innovationen entstehen: polierter Stein, Keramik, Weberei. Die ersten Fernkommunikationsnetze entstehen.
