Museo Nacional de Arte Romano
C/José Ramón Mélida s/n 06800 Mérida Badajoz
The National Museum of Roman Art is an institution with a very long history. Its content and activities revolve around the Roman period, which is the focus of the permanent exhibition held at its main headquarters. Despite this, the weight of Mérida’s role at the end of Antiquity, in which she occupied the role of the first capital of Spain, as well as during the Visigothic period and the beginning of the Middle Ages, marks our institution’s future aspirations, with the creation of a new headquarters to host the collections associated with these historical periods.

If you want to go directly by private transport, we recommend parking in the public car park located nearby, on the C/ Cabo Verde, and reach the museum on foot (500 meters approx.): from there you can go up to the roundabout where this street ends and turn right to take the garden promenade from which the C/ José Ramón Mélida starts.
To get from the train station you can use the taxi, but due to its proximity it is recommended to go on foot along the C/ Cervantes, which links to its terminus with the C/ José Ramón Mélida.
From the bus station and due to the distance, it is recommended to use one of the alternatives of urban transport: taxi or bus. In the latter case, you must either take the C1 to get off at Avenida de Juan Carlos I and walk along C/ Octavio Augusto, or take line A1 to get off directly at Avenida de Extremadura and go down by C/ Cabo Verde, where you will already enter C/ José Ramón Mélida.
