The Moulin des Ayes is a water mill built to serve the needs of the Abbey of the Ayes, a women’s convent founded in Crolles in the 12th century by Marguerite of Burgundy. Today, the building which rises on two levels houses a complete installation for grinding cereals as well as an oil mill. The mill of Ayes, also called Gabert mill from the name of its former owner, remained in operation until the 80s. The mill became the property of the commune in 2000\. This enhancement work includes a partnership with the heritage association Les Raisonneurs de pierre. The association created the garden adjacent to the serve behind the mill, which it has maintained since, and is currently carrying out an important restoration work on the machines aimed in particular at rehabilitating the bucket wheel and putting the oil mill back into operation.
