Dive into the sources of inspiration of one of the masters of abstraction.

In renovated buildings, the LaM will reopen on February 20, 2026 and will present a major retrospective dedicated to Vassily Kandinsky, a major figure in 20th century art.
Co-organized with the Centre Pompidou - Paris, this exhibition will explore a little-known aspect of the artist’s work: the role of images.
Photographs, scientific or press illustrations... far from being mere sources of inspiration, they nourish the artist’s visual thought and accompany his quest for abstraction.
Through a unique set of works and archives from the legacy of Nina Kandinsky at the Centre Pompidou and exceptional loans, from public and private European institutions, The exhibition invites us to rediscover the importance of images in the work of one of the founders of abstraction.

Dans des bâtiments rénovés, le LaM rouvrira le 20 février 2026 et présentera une grande rétrospective consacrée à Vassily Kandinsky, figure majeure de l'art du XXe siècle.
Coorganisée avec le Centre Pompidou - Paris, cette exposition explorera un aspect méconnu du travail de l'artiste : le rôle des images.
Photographies, illustrations scientifiques ou de presse... loin d'être de simples sources d'inspiration, elles nourrissent la pensée visuelle de l'artiste et accompagnent sa quête vers l'abstraction.
À travers un ensemble unique d'œuvres et d'archives issues du legs de Nina Kandinsky au Centre Pompidou et de prêts exceptionnels, d'institutions européennes publiques et privées, le parcours de l'exposition invite à redécouvrir l'importance des images dans l'œuvre de l'un des fondateurs de l'abstraction.

In gerenoveerde gebouwen zal de Lam op 20 februari 2026 heropend worden en een belangrijke retrospectief presenteren gewijd aan Vassily Kandinsky, een belangrijke figuur in de 20e-eeuwse kunst
In samenwerking met het Centre Pompidou - Parijs zal deze tentoonstelling een onbekend aspect van het werk van de kunstenaar onderzoeken: De rol van beelden.
Foto's, wetenschappelijke of persillustraties... ze zijn verre van eenvoudige inspiratiebronnen, maar voeden de visuele gedachte van de kunstenaar en begeleiden zijn zoektocht naar abstractie.
Door middel van een unieke collectie werken en archieven uit de nalatenschap van Nina Kandinsky in het Centre Pompidou en uitzonderlijke leningen van openbare en particuliere Europese instellingen nodigt de reis van de tentoonstelling ons uit om het belang van beelden in het werk van een van de oprichters van abstractie te herontdekken.
