In Dambé: The Mali Project, director Dearbhla Glynn follows Irish musicians Liam Ó Maonlaí and Paddy Keenan on a journey across Mali, from Bamako to the edge of the Sahara. Along the way, Irish and Malian musical traditions reveal unexpected affinities: cyclical rhythms, echoes between the harp and the kora, the bodhrán and the calabash, and between sean-nós singing and the voices of the griots.
The film reaches its climax at the Festival au Désert near Timbuktu, in a performance where musical journeys, personal stories, and a shared search for artistic intensity converge. The screening will be followed by the presence of Liam Ó Maonlaí, who is also a featured artist in the performance YULE.

Avec Dambé: The Mali Project, la réalisatrice Dearbhla Glynn suit les musiciens irlandais Liam Ó Maonlaí et Paddy Keenan dans un voyage à travers le Mali, de Bamako aux portes du Sahara. Au fil des rencontres, les musiques irlandaises et maliennes se découvrent des résonances inattendues : rythmes circulaires, parentés entre harpe et kora, bodhrán et calebasse, chant sean-nós et voix des griots.
Le film culmine au Festival au Désert, près de Tombouctou, dans une performance où se croisent routes musicales, histoires de vie et quête d’une même intensité intérieure. La projection aura lieu en présence de Liam Ó Maonlaí, également invité du spectacle YULE.
