The ADEM invite audiences to experience the spirit of an authentic Scottish session at Geneva’s Pickwick Pub, where music and dance unfold spontaneously in the energy of the moment.
Haltadans draws on the extraordinary musical vitality of the Shetland Islands, where the fiddle holds a central place. Once part of the Viking world, the archipelago gradually came under Scottish influence over the centuries while maintaining strong cultural ties with Scandinavia.
Its repertoire of reels and jigs reflects both the island’s dance traditions and the settings in which this music took shape—ports, taverns, and local celebrations. Characterised by a vigorous style and a strong emphasis on improvisation, this living tradition continues to thrive today.
The band has performed throughout the Shetland Islands and internationally at renowned festivals including the Orkney Folk Festival and Edinburgh’s Scots Fiddle Festival, carrying forward the legacy of the Celtic revival of the 1960s and 1970s. Nominated in 2024 for Scottish Folk Band of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, Haltadans has established itself as one of the leading ensembles on today’s Scottish folk scene with its eponymous album Haltadansand the release Light Ida Lum.

Les ADEM invitent leur public à vivre, au Pickwick Pub de Genève, l’expérience d’une véritable session écossaise où la musique et la danse se vivent dans l’élan du moment.
La soirée se déroulera en deux temps : une première partie en concert, pour savourer la virtuosité et l'inventivité des musicien·nes, puis une seconde partie où le public sera invité à entrer dans la danse. Aucun niveau n'est requis : il suffira de se laisser guider par les personnes expérimentées présentes. Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, un stage d'initiation est d'ailleurs proposé juste avant, avec les artistes, afin d'en profiter pleinement !
Haltadans puise dans l’extraordinaire vitalité musicale des Shetland, où le violon occupe une place centrale. Ancienne terre viking, l’archipel est passé sous influence écossaise au fil des siècles, tout en conservant des liens culturels étroits avec le monde scandinave.
Reels et jigs, hérités autant des pratiques de danse que des contextes où cette musique s’est façonnée – dans les ports, les tavernes et les fêtes locales –, sont marqués par un phrasé vigoureux et une place essentielle accordée à l’improvisation.
Le groupe s’est produit aux Shetland comme à l’international lors d’événements prestigieux tels que l’Orkney Folk Festival et le Scots Fiddle Festival d’Édimbourg, dans le sillage du revival celtique des années 1960-1970. Nommé en 2024 dans la catégorie « Scottish Folk Band of the Year » aux MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, le groupe confirme sa place parmi les formations marquantes de la scène écossaise actuelle avec son opus Haltadans et l’album Light Ida Lum.
