Located on a plateau overlooking the Creuse, the ancient city of Argentomagus covers an area of about 70 hectares in the current commune of Saint-Marcel (Indre). Archaeological excavations reveal each year new knowledge about the buried city: streets, neighborhoods, forum, basilica, theater... The museum, labeled Musée de France, is built on a district of the urban area and contains vestiges integrated into the building of 2,400 m2\. The spaces are punctuated by numerous reconstructions from prehistory to the Gallo-Roman era. Designed and created by scientists and pedagogues, the Argentomagus Museum conveys the image of an archaeology accessible to all, understandable and intelligible.

Toegang

From 1 September to 30 June: open every day from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, except on Tuesday. From 1 July to 31 August: open every day from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00\. The first Sunday of August and July are paid. The museum is closed from the evening of 23 December until and including 10 February, as well as on 1 May. Specific arrangements for visitors with disabilities.
