In 1350, an elm begins to grow on the domain of La Roche It grows, a statue of the Virgin settles on its trunk. In 1650 the tree dies . In 1653-1655 the widow of Jean D'Ivoley, owner of the estate, built a chapel to grant her husband’s wish. A 16th century stone is installed on this trunk. For a century 1/2 the family occupied the estate, some of its members are buried in the chapel . In 1792, the chapel is partially destroyed and abandoned: the Piétà is still there on the trunk still rooted , The chapel belongs to the diocese of Belley Ars since 1998\. A local association has been maintaining this chapel and organizing guided tours during the heritage days for several years
