The church of Carcares appears around the middle of the 12th century in the Red Book of the cathedral of Dax. Located on a hill, it dominates the valley of the Midouze. Take a steep staircase to access a vast entrance porch, supported by several round columns and stocky sandstone shell. The church originally bore the name of Saint-Girons, later replaced by that of Saint-Laurent, but today it remains attached to a fountain located below and once highly venerated. Its bell-wall has a beautiful shelter of bells
