“Acquigny is perfect. Acquigny is the size of the man,” Jean de la Varende enthused. At the confluence of the Eure and Iton rivers, the park, originally designed in the French style in the 18th century, has been transformed into a romantic park of 16 hectares with particular attention paid to the integration of water and vegetation. These elements are integrated into a romantic landscape and contribute to the poetic atmosphere of the place. The water is omnipresent, with basins where the roots of centuries-old trees plunge. A serpentine river and a system of canals that divert water from the Iton, create a natural setting for the castle and its gardens. An artificial river runs through the park, adding a soothing visual and sound dimension, while bridges and rock paths invite you to stroll.
