The Paul Eluard Museum of Art and History is an establishment of the City of Saint-Denis. It has been housed since 1981 in a 17th-century convent, listed as a historical monument. By the importance of its collections and the remarkable character of its site, it is an important landmark for local and national history. It is both a museum of fine arts, decorative arts, history, archaeology and literature. Haven of peace, the ancient Carmel presents the daily life of the Carmelites, whose mystical sentences punctuate the journey. It houses objects and works dedicated to the history of the city of Saint-Denis, from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century, or even to the siege and the Paris Commune of 1870-1871\. It takes the name of Musée d'art et d'histoire Paul Eluard in 2019 as a tribute to the collection dedicated to the Dionysian poet.
