Located in Cabardès, 25 km from Carcassonne, in the heart of the Montagne Noire, Fontiers-Cabardès dominates the valleys of the Aude and the chains of the Pyrenees and Corbières. To the east, the gaze opens onto the PIC de Nore (1,210 m). The village is bordered to the north and west by the forests of Ramondens and La Loubatière.
Since 2017, the municipality and the inhabitants have been working together with the objective of making Fontiers-Cabardès the first remarkable garden village in the pays de Carcassonne. This approach is based on the richness of its landscape and historical heritage, with the ambition to develop tourism activity and strengthen the unity of the village around its identity based on water, stone and forest.
A landscape heritage trail was created. By walking through it, visitors discover the architectural heritage of the village as well as the 5,000 plants planted in spaces arranged according to different themes, such as a wetland or a collection of heather earth plants.
