Owned by the General Council, the buildings of the sub-prefecture of Chinon house in the same complex of the fourteenth century, the administrative services and the official residence of the sub-prefect. Built from 1359, enlarged in the 15th century and remodelled in the 17th century, the convent of the Order of Augustinians, houses since the empire the sub-prefecture. The first sub-prefect, Albert Ruelle, took office on the 12th of Floréal in Year VIII. In 2004, at the initiative of the sub-warden then in office, work was undertaken to beautify the cloister. They will reveal the arcades of the fourteenth century.
