Théo and Vincent take you to the time of the green fairy for a visit mixing texts on Absinthe but also moments of correspondence of the two van Gogh brothers in Auvers-sur-Oise.
Amidst the works of the 19th century brought together by Marie-Claude Delahaye, resonate the words of Baudelaire, Ponchon, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Allais as well as the letters of Théo and Vincent.

Located in Auvers-sur-Oise, one of the main cradles of impressionism, the Absinthe Museum brings an additional element in the discovery and understanding of the 19th century. The Absinthe Museum, with its iconography and original objects unknown to the general public, makes us understand the importance of coffee in the social and artistic life of the 19th century.
With its cradle in Franche-Comté, absinthe could have remained a regional aperitif. Now, this drink with new flavors and an almost magical ritual, reaches the Parisian boulevards around 1840 and becomes its queen. In all the cafes, the Green Fairy is present. Poets and artists lived and worked in these places where it was hot. All are lovers of the Verte and by their poems, their drawings, their paintings, they go from the depths of cafes to give it its immortality.
Located between the Auberge Ravoux where Vincent van Gogh lived his last moments and the Château de Léry which presents an exhibition on Vincent van Gogh surrounded by artists of his time, the Musée de l'Absinthe recreates the atmosphere of the cafes of the Belle Époque when absinthe was in fashion. The museum enters into synergy, quite naturally, in the cultural journey of Auvers-sur-Oise. And if Auvers gives all its meaning to the museum, it in return brings a complement in the knowledge of the 19th century thanks to an iconography and original and authentic works of art.

The Impressionist train: This train runs directly between Paris Nord and Auvers-sur-Oise, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from April to October (subject to modifications): * Departure from Paris Nord at 9h38 for an arrival in Auvers at 10h22 (44 min). * Return from Auvers-sur-Oise at 6:15 PM for an arrival in Paris Nord at 6:50 PM (35 min). By car: * 28 km from Porte Maillot or Porte de Clignancourt * By Gennevilliers, La Défense or Porte de Clignancourt: direction Cergy-Pontoise A15, then take the A115 motorway towards Amiens-Beauvais, then exit Méry-sur-Oise Centre, direction Auvers-sur-Oise.
