The church of Saint-Mathurin and the cathedral of Paris were built at the same time, at the request of the same owners, the canons of Notre-Dame.
We will study the decorative and architectural similarities, then evoke their particular use as well as their different destinies.

This church of gothic style, dedicated to the famous Saint Mathurin, healer of the fools, was built by the builders of the chapter of Notre-Dame-de-Paris. Started around 1176, this set was completed in the first quarter of the 13th century. The church was an important step on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Even today, Saint Mathurin is celebrated during the pilgrimage organized each year during Pentecost.
