Als Zeuge der Geschichte des Dorfes, das 1214 als Kommandantur des Johanniterordens errichtet wurde, diente die Kirche den Bewohnern während des Hundertjährigen Krieges und später während der Religionskriege als befestigte Zuflucht.
Bernard Fourcayran empfängt Sie in der Kirche St-Jean-Baptiste, um Ihnen die Entdeckungen vorzustellen, die nach den Arbeiten zur Entlackierung des Gebäudes mit einer Videoprojektion gemacht wurden. Im Anschluss an diese Präsentation werden Sie die während der Arbeiten gemachten Entdeckungen und die Art und Weise, wie wir sie zur Geltung gebracht haben, vor Ort sehen.
Die Kirche von Le Burgaud ist durch ihre Größe (mehr als 30 m lang und über 8 m breit) beeindruckend und versetzt uns in acht Jahrhunderte der Geschichte Frankreichs und Europas. Die Geschichte der Kirche begann vermutlich im 13. Jahrhundert, kurz nach der Gründung der Kommandantur zum Schutz der Bewohner vor den Einfällen der "Kompanien". Als Teil der Stadtbefestigung wird sie von einem Rundweg gekrönt, dessen Gassen noch sichtbar sind.
Im Inneren sind drei Schießfenster zu sehen, die im 16. Jahrhundert während der Religionskriege durchbrochen wurden. Das zu Beginn des 16. Jahrhunderts errichtete Gewölbe trägt die Waffen des Kommandanten Honoré de Grasse, der diese Arbeiten durchgeführt hat. Drei im selben Jahrhundert durchbohrte Kapellen beherbergten die Gräber von burgaudainischen Familien; dort findet man eine Familie von Einwohnern der Stadt Rhodos, die dem Orden der Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean-de-Jerusalem gefolgt war, als sie nach der Niederlage gegen die Türken von Soliman dem Prächtigen flohen.

Witness to the history of the village erected as a commandery of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem in 1214, the church served as a fortified refuge for the inhabitants during the Hundred Years' War, then during the Wars of Religion.
Bernard Fourcayran welcomes you to the St-Jean-Baptiste church to present to you the discoveries that were made at the end of the stripping work on the building, with video projection. Following this presentation, you will see on site the discoveries made during the work, and how we were able to highlight them.
The church of Burgaud imposing by its dimensions (more than 30 m long and more than 8 m wide), transports us in eight centuries of history of France and Europe. The history of the church probably began in the 13th century shortly after the founding of the commandery to protect the inhabitants from incursions by "companies". As part of the fortifications of the city, it is crowned by a walkway whose battlements are still visible.
Inside, there are three shooting windows drilled in the 16th century during the religious wars. The vault built at the beginning of the 16th century bears the arms of the commander Honoré de Grasse who carried out these works. Three chapels opened in the same century housed the burial sites of Burgaud families; there is a family from the city of Rhodes who followed the Order of Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem in their flight after the defeat by the Turks at Suleiman the Magnificent.

Témoin de l’histoire du village érigé en commanderie de l’Ordre de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem en 1214, l’église a servi de refuge fortifié aux habitants durant la guerre de Cent ans, puis durant les guerres de Religion.
Bernard Fourcayran vous acceuille dans l'église St-Jean-Baptiste pour vous présenter les découvertes qui ont été réalisées à l'issu des travaux de décapage de l'édifice, avec vidéoprojection. A la suite de cette présentation, vous verrez sur place les découvertes faites au cours des travaux, et la façon dont on a pu les mettre en valeur.
L’église du Burgaud imposante par ses dimensions (plus de 30 m de long et plus de 8 m de large), nous transporte dans huit siècles d’histoire de France et d’Europe. L’histoire de l’église a probablement commencé au XIIIe siècle peu de temps après la fondation de la commanderie pour protéger les habitants des incursions des « compagnies ». Faisant partie des fortifications de la ville, elle est couronnée par un chemin de ronde dons les créneaux sont encore visibles.
À l’intérieur on remarque trois fenêtres de tir percées au XVIe siècle pendant les guerres de religions. La voûte construite au début du XVIe siècle porte les armes du commandeur Honoré de Grasse qui réalisa ces travaux. Trois chapelles percées au même siècle ont abrité les sépultures de familles burgaudaines, on y retrouve une famille d’habitants de la ville de Rhodes ayant suivi l’Ordre des Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem dans leur fuite après la défaite face aux turcs de Soliman le Magnifique.

Bernard Fourcayran le da la bienvenida en la iglesia de San Juan Bautista para presentarle los descubrimientos que se han realizado al final de las obras de decapado del edificio, con proyección de vídeo. La iglesia del Burgaud, imponente por sus dimensiones (más de 30 m de largo y más de 8 m de ancho), nos transporta en ocho siglos de historia de Francia y de Europa. La historia de la iglesia probablemente comenzó en el siglo XIII poco después de la fundación de la comandancia para proteger a los habitantes de las incursiones de las "compañías".
