The current church has replaced two older religious buildings: a simple oratory under the invocation of the Trinity, and a small church. The primitive church has disappeared under later constructions. The oratory still exists but modified and enlarged. It was made the underground chapel of Saint-Forte. In this oratory were buried Saint-Seurin, one of the first bishops of Bordeaux, as well as Saint-Amand and Sainte-Forte. During the Middle Ages, the church was several times ransacked and restored. The western portal, consisting of three arcades, is adorned with historiated capitals. The facade itself was built in the 19th century. Above the old portico rises a quadrangular bell tower. A belfry has been applied to the south side of the church. The southern door, Gothic, presents ogives in clover, life-size statues and bas-reliefs. The high altar and the chapel of Notre-Dame des Roses are adorned with reliefs from the 14th and 15th centuries. In 1698, the fall of the great vault led to wo
