Im Sommer 2027, im Zusammenhang mit dem 200-jährigen Jubiläum der Fotografie, empfängt La Piscine den jungen zeitgenössischen Künstler Thomas Devaux. Geboren im Norden in Marcq-en-Baroeul, lebt und arbeitet der Fotograf nun in Paris und definiert sich als ein plastischer Fotograf. In seiner Arbeit schafft die Fotografie Verwirrung über ihre wahre Natur, bis sie manchmal mit einem abstrakten Gemälde, einem Designobjekt oder sogar einer minimalistischen Kunstinstallation verwechselt wird. Das fotografische Bild verwischt so die Bezugspunkte und befindet sich am Rande verschiedener Künste. Seine Werke werden daher einen ganz natürlichen Platz im Museum für Kunst und Industrie von Roubaix finden, das seit seiner Eröffnung 2001 durch seine Sammlungen und sein Programm ständig daran arbeitet, die Hierarchien zwischen den Künsten zu hinterfragen.
Spiegelbild, Spiegel und Licht stehen ebenfalls im Mittelpunkt des Werks der Künstlerin, die eine Suche nach dem Profanen und Heiligen im Zeitalter der Konsumgesellschaft verfolgt. Seit einigen Jahren verstellt er seine Fotografien, indem er sie mit dichroitischem Glas vermischt. Die Werke, die das Licht als eigenständiges künstlerisches Material nutzen, werden im Museum mit den Spiegelungen und Glasfronten des Beckens sowie mit den Sammlungen in einer einzigartigen Installation im Herzen des alten Schwimmbades und auf dem ständigen Rundgang interagieren.

In the summer of 2027, in connection with the bicentenary of photography, La Piscine welcomes artist Thomas Devaux for a carte blanche to young contemporary creation. Born in the north of France in Marcq-en-Baroeul, the photographer now lives and works in Paris and defines himself as a visual photographer. In his work, photography creates confusion about its true nature, sometimes to the point of merging with an abstract painting, a design object, or even a minimal art installation. The photographic image thus blurs the markers and is located at the edge of different arts. His works will therefore find a natural place at the Musée d'art et d'industrie de Roubaix which, since its opening in 2001, has not ceased, through its collections and programming, to question the hierarchies between the arts.
Reflection, mirror and light are also at the heart of the artist’s work, who pursues a research on the profane and the sacred in the age of consumer society. For the past few years, he has been transforming his photographs by mixing them with dichroic glass. Using light as an artistic material in its own right, the works will dialogue within the museum with the reflections and glass windows of the pool as well as with the collections, in a new installation at the heart of the old swimming pool and within the permanent exhibition.

Nell'estate 2027, in occasione del bicentenario della fotografia, La Piscine accoglie l'artista Thomas Devaux per dare carta bianca alla giovane creazione contemporanea. Nato nel Nord a Marcq-en-Baroeul, il fotografo vive e lavora ora a Parigi e si definisce un fotografo-artista. Nel suo lavoro, la fotografia crea confusione sulla sua vera natura, fino a confondersi talvolta con una pittura astratta, un oggetto di design o persino un'installazione artistica minimale. L'immagine fotografica offusca così i riferimenti e si colloca ai margini di diverse arti. Le sue opere troveranno quindi un posto naturale al Museo d'arte e d'industria di Roubaix che, fin dalla sua apertura nel 2001, non ha mai smesso, attraverso le sue collezioni e la sua programmazione, di interrogare le gerarchie tra le arti.
Il riflesso, lo specchio e la luce sono anche al centro dell'opera dell'artista, che prosegue una ricerca sul profano e sacro nell'era della società dei consumi. Da alcuni anni, trasforma le sue fotografie mescolandole al vetro dicroico. Utilizzando la luce come materiale artistico a pieno titolo, le opere dialogheranno all'interno del museo con i riflessi e le vetrate della vasca e con le collezioni, in un'installazione inedita nel cuore dell'antica piscina e all'interno del percorso permanente.

Né dans le Nord à Marcq-en-Baroeul, le photographe vit et travaille désormais à Paris et se définit comme un photographe-plasticien. Dans son travail, la photographie crée la confusion sur sa nature véritable, jusqu'à se confondre parfois avec une peinture abstraite, un objet de design, ou même une installation d'art minimal. L'image photographique brouille ainsi les repères et se situe à la lisière de différents arts. Ses œuvres trouveront donc une place toute naturelle au Musée d'art et d'industrie de Roubaix qui, depuis son ouverture en 2001, n'a de cesse, à travers ses collections et sa programmation, d'interroger les hiérarchies entre les arts.
Le reflet, le miroir et la lumière sont aussi au cœur de l'œuvre de l'artiste, qui poursuit une recherche sur le profane et le sacré à l'heure de la société de consommation. Depuis quelques années, il transfigure ses photographies en les mêlant à du verre dichroïque. Usant de la lumière comme d'un matériau artistique à part entière, les œuvres dialogueront au sein du musée avec les reflets et les verrières du bassin ainsi qu'avec les collections, dans une installation inédite au cœur de l'ancienne piscine et au sein du parcours permanent.

En el verano de 2027, en relación con el bicentenario de la fotografía, La Piscine da la bienvenida al joven artista contemporáneo Thomas Devaux. Nacido en el norte de Marcq-en-Baroeul, el fotógrafo vive y trabaja ahora en París y se define como un fotógrafo-plástico. En su trabajo, la fotografía crea confusión sobre su verdadera naturaleza, hasta confundirse a veces con una pintura abstracta, un objeto de diseño o incluso una instalación de arte minimalista. La imagen fotográfica desdibuja así los puntos de referencia y se sitúa en el límite de diferentes artes. Sus obras encontrarán así un lugar natural en el Museo de arte e industria de Roubaix que, desde su apertura en 2001, no ha cesado, a través de sus colecciones y su programación, de interrogar las jerarquías entre las artes.
El reflejo, el espejo y la luz también están en el corazón de la obra del artista, que prosigue una investigación sobre lo profano y lo sagrado en la hora de la sociedad de consumo. Desde hace algunos años, transfigura sus fotografías mezclándolas con vidrio dicroico. Utilizando la luz como un material artístico de pleno derecho, las obras dialogarán en el museo con los reflejos y las vidrieras del estanque así como con las colecciones, en una instalación inédita en el corazón de la antigua piscina y dentro del recorrido permanente.
