In the Thickness of the World
Through a selection of works drawn from its collection of 1,400 photographs, the artothèque highlights more than thirty years of commitment to contemporary photography. Bringing together artists from both the national and international scenes, the exhibition traces the major directions of this collection, built since 1990, around the exploration of reality, the aesthetics of everyday life, and the relationships between humans and their environment.
The exhibition unfolds through emblematic works, a selection of artists’ books, and a reflection on the act of collecting inspired by Walter Benjamin’s text Unpacking My Library. In resonance with this ensemble, artist David Legrand presents a new creation combining digital art, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, offering a contemporary and interactive reinterpretation of the collection as part of the Multimedia Month developed in partnership with the Arléane library network.

À travers une sélection d’œuvres parmi les 1 400 photographies de sa collection, l’artothèque met en lumière plus de trente ans d’engagement en faveur de la photographie contemporaine. Réunissant des artistes de la scène nationale et internationale, l’exposition retrace les grandes orientations de cette collection constituée depuis 1990, autour de l'exploration du réel, l'esthétique du quotidien et les relations entre l’homme et son environnement.
Le parcours s’articule autour d’œuvres emblématiques, d’une sélection de livres d’artistes et d’une réflexion sur l’acte de collectionner inspirée du texte Je déballe ma bibliothèque de Walter Benjamin. En écho à cet ensemble, l’artiste David Legrand propose une création inédite qui mêle l'art numérique, la réalité virtuelle et l'intelligence artificielle, et une relecture contemporaine et interactive de la collection dans le cadre du Mois du Multimédia développé avec le réseau des bibliothèques Arléane.

A través de una selección de obras entre las 1.400 fotografías de su colección, la Artoteca destaca más de treinta años de compromiso en favor de la fotografía contemporánea. Reuniendo a artistas de la escena nacional e internacional, la exposición traza las grandes orientaciones de esta colección constituida desde 1990, en torno a la exploración del real, la estética del cotidiano y las relaciones entre el hombre y su entorno.
El recorrido se articula en torno a obras emblemáticas, una selección de libros de artistas y una reflexión sobre el acto de coleccionar inspirada en el texto Je déballe ma bibliothèque de Walter Benjamin. En eco de este conjunto, el artista David Legrand propone una creación inédita que mezcla el arte digital, la realidad virtual y la inteligencia artificial, y una relectura contemporánea e interactiva de la colección en el marco del Mes del Multimedia desarrollado con la red de las bibliotecas Arléane.
