Thought for The Free Fields, the exhibition "Histoire(s)" offers a dive into the photographic universe of Guillaume Herbaut. A renowned photojournalist who collaborates with the major press headlines, over time he has built up a documentary work that has taken him to places steeped in history, whose symbols and memories he questions in order to reveal their invisible tragedies: Chernobyl, Auschwitz, Nagasaki and since 2001 Ukraine, where he goes several times a year.
This exhibition will unfold in three stages corresponding to the three temporalities of the creation of Guillaume Herbaut’s photographs: first, the capture of traces of the past to inventory places of memory, then the time of History on the move, or the long time of the story, to paint pictures of the history of Ukraine and France, and finally the immediate time of current events with a view to publication in the press. It is with a view to raising awareness of the reading of images within this transdisciplinary institution, that the fourth space, at the end of the exhibition route, will offer a performance entitled "La Fabrique de l'editing". It will consist of an original installation that will be built over the days to take the form of a wall of images published weekly by Guillaume Herbaut.
