Die Ausstellung stellt mehr als ein Jahrhundert der Archäologie im Kanton Freiburg (Schweiz) dar, von den ersten, oft bahnbrechenden Erkundungen bis zur Strukturierung des heutigen Archäologischen Dienstes. Sie ist Teil einer umfassenderen Reflexion über das kulturelle Erbe, verstanden nicht nur als eine Ansammlung materieller Überreste, sondern auch als ein lebendiges kollektives Gedächtnis, das von den Generationen geformt, weitergegeben und neu interpretiert wird.
Durch den Reichtum und die Vielfalt der präsentierten Fotografien entdeckt der Besucher die konkreten Spuren der Ausgrabungen und Entdeckungen, die im gesamten Kantonsgebiet durchgeführt wurden. Aber über die Stätten und Objekte hinaus zeigen diese Bilder vor allem die Frauen und Männer, die gestern wie heute Archäologie machen: Feldarchitekten, Spezialisten, Techniker, Restauratoren und Studenten. usw. Ihr Engagement, ihre Expertise und ihr Blick tragen dazu bei, dass Fragmente der Vergangenheit aus dem Boden auftauchen und ihnen wieder Sinn geben.
Die Ausstellung beleuchtet auch die Aufgaben, Werkzeuge, Herausforderungen und Entwicklungen einer sich ständig verändernden Disziplin am Schnittpunkt wissenschaftlicher Forschung und Dienst an der Gemeinschaft. Denn die Freiburger Archäologie beschränkt sich nicht auf die Entdeckung: Sie beteiligt sich aktiv an der Erhaltung, Aufwertung und Weitergabe des kulturellen Erbes im Hinblick auf das Gemeinwohl. Sie erinnert daran, dass dieses Erbe nur existiert, weil es von denen anerkannt, erforscht und geteilt wird, die es täglich leben lassen.

The exhibition highlights more than a century of archaeology in the canton of Fribourg (Switzerland), from the first explorations, often pioneering, to the structuring of the archaeological service as it exists today. It is part of a broader reflection on cultural heritage, understood not only as a set of material remains, but also as a collective memory alive, shaped, transmitted and reinterpreted by generations.
Through the richness and diversity of the photographs presented, the visitor discovers concrete traces of excavations and discoveries made throughout the cantonal territory. But beyond the sites and objects, these images reveal above all the women and men who, then as now, make archaeology: field archaeologists, specialists, technicians, restorers, students. etc. Their commitment, expertise and perspective help to bring out fragments of the past from the ground and give them new meaning.
The exhibition also highlights the missions, tools, challenges and developments of a discipline in constant transformation, at the crossroads of scientific research and service to society. Because Fribourg archaeology is not limited to discovery: it actively participates in the preservation, enhancement and transmission of cultural heritage, in a perspective of common good. It thus reminds us that this heritage exists only because it is recognized, studied and shared by those who bring it to life on a daily basis.

L'esposizione mette in mostra più di un secolo di archeologia nel Canton Friburgo (Svizzera), dalle prime esplorazioni, spesso pionieristiche, fino alla strutturazione del Servizio archeologico come esiste oggi. Si inserisce in una riflessione più ampia sul patrimonio culturale, inteso non solo come un insieme di vestigia materiali, ma anche come memoria collettiva viva, plasmata, trasmessa e reinterpretata dalle generazioni.
Attraverso la ricchezza e la diversità delle fotografie presentate, il visitatore scopre le tracce concrete degli scavi e dei ritrovamenti realizzati su tutto il territorio cantonale. Ma al di là dei siti e degli oggetti, queste immagini rivelano soprattutto le donne e gli uomini che, ieri come oggi, fanno l'archeologia: archeologi sul campo, specialisti, tecnici-restauratori-rice-s, studenti-e. ecc. Il loro impegno, la loro competenza e il loro modo di vedere contribuiscono a far emergere dal suolo frammenti del passato e a restituirgli un senso.
L'esposizione mette in luce le missioni, gli strumenti, le sfide e le evoluzioni di una disciplina in continua trasformazione, al crocevia della ricerca scientifica e del servizio alla collettività. Perché l'archeologia friburghese non si limita alla scoperta: partecipa attivamente alla conservazione, alla valorizzazione e alla trasmissione del patrimonio culturale, in una prospettiva di bene comune. Ricorda così che questo patrimonio esiste solo perché è riconosciuto, studiato e condiviso da coloro che lo fanno vivere quotidianamente.

L’exposition met également en lumière les missions, les outils, les défis et les évolutions d’une discipline en constante transformation, à la croisée de la recherche scientifique et du service à la collectivité. Car l’archéologie fribourgeoise ne se limite pas à la découverte: elle participe activement à la préservation, à la valorisation et à la transmission du patrimoine culturel, dans une perspective de bien commun. Elle rappelle ainsi que ce patrimoine n’existe que parce qu’il est reconnu, étudié et partagé par celles et ceux qui le font vivre au quotidien.

La exposición celebra más de un siglo de arqueología en el cantón de Friburgo (Suiza), desde las primeras exploraciones, a menudo pioneras, hasta la estructuración del Servicio arqueológico tal como existe hoy. Se inscribe en una reflexión más amplia sobre el patrimonio cultural, entendido no sólo como un conjunto de vestigios materiales, sino también como una memoria colectiva viva, forjada, transmitida y reinterpretada por las generaciones.
A través de la riqueza y diversidad de las fotografías presentadas, el visitante descubre las huellas concretas de las excavaciones y descubrimientos realizados en todo el territorio cantonal. Pero más allá de los sitios y objetos, estas imágenes revelan sobre todo a las mujeres y los hombres que, ayer como hoy, hacen la arqueología: arqueólogos de campo, especialistas, técnicos restauradores, estudiantes. etc. Su compromiso, su experiencia y su mirada contribuyen a que surjan del suelo fragmentos del pasado y les den nuevo sentido.
La exposición también destaca las misiones, herramientas, desafíos y cambios de una disciplina en constante transformación, en el cruce entre la investigación científica y el servicio a la comunidad. Porque la arqueología friburguesa no se limita al descubrimiento: participa activamente en la preservación, la valorización y la transmisión del patrimonio cultural, con una perspectiva de bien común. Recuerda así que este patrimonio sólo existe porque es reconocido, estudiado y compartido por quienes lo viven diariamente.
