Ausgehend von der Welt des Videospiels entfaltet Samir Laghouati-Rashwan Avatare, um die andere Seite des Blickes zu erkunden: nicht nur den, der beobachtet wird, sondern auch den, der die Anweisungen integriert, wiederholt und erfüllt. Er interessiert sich dafür, wie Männer aus der afrikanischen Diaspora in Frankreich mit widersprüchlichen und oft binären Erwartungen umgehen. Stark, solide, männlich, bedrohlich oder im Gegenteil lustig, formbar, harmlos sein: zwei karikaturistische Pole, zwischen denen der Körper gezwungen ist, sich zu positionieren.
Durch die Figur des Avatars vermittelt das Stück die Analogie zwischen diesen sozialen Aufgaben und der Logik des Gaming: einen Skin auswählen, eine Rolle übernehmen, eine Haltung optimieren, um im gemeinsamen Raum zu überleben. Starting from the world of video games, Samir Laghouati-Rashwan deploys avatars to explore the other side of the gaze: not only the one who is observed, but also the one who integrates, replays and performs the injunctions. He is interested in the way men from African diasporas in France cope with contradictory and often binary expectations. Being strong, solid, virile, threatening or on the contrary funny, malleable, harmless: two caricatural poles between which the body is required to position itself.
Through the figure of the avatar, the piece draws an analogy between these social assignments and the logic of gaming: choosing a skin, taking on a role, optimizing a posture to survive in the common space. It is the precise place where gender and race freeze that interests Samir Laghouati-Rashwan and his interpreters Manu Garçia Mpasi and Trésor Gennai Yahaut.

Prendendo come punto di partenza l'universo del videogioco, Samir Laghouati-Rashwan dispiega degli avatar per esplorare l'altro volto dello sguardo: non più solo quello che viene osservato, ma anche quello che integra, rigioca e esegue le ingiunzioni. Si interessa a come gli uomini provenienti dalle diaspore africane in Francia si comportino con aspettative contraddittorie e spesso binarie. Essere forte, solido, virile, minaccioso o al contrario divertente, malleabile, innocuo: due poli caricaturali tra i quali il corpo è costretto a posizionarsi.
Attraverso la figura dell'avatar, il pezzo traccia l'analogia tra queste assegnazioni sociali e le logiche del gaming: scegliere una skin, assumere un ruolo, ottimizzare una postura per sopravvivere nello spazio comune. En prenant pour point de départ l’univers du jeu vidéo, Samir Laghouati-Rashwan déploie des avatars pour explorer l’autre versant du regard : non plus seulement celui qui est observé, mais celui qui intègre, rejoue et performe les injonctions. Il s’intéresse à la manière dont des hommes issus des diasporas africaines en France composent avec des attentes contradictoires et souvent binaires. Être fort, solide, viril, menaçant ou au contraire drôle, malléable, inoffensif : deux pôles caricaturaux entre lesquels le corps est sommé de se positionner.

Tomando como punto de partida el universo del videojuego, Samir Laghouati-Rashwan despliega avatares para explorar el otro lado de la mirada: ya no solo el que es observado, sino el que integra, rejuega y cumple las órdenes. Se interesa por la manera en que los hombres provenientes de las diásporas africanas en Francia se enfrentan a expectativas contradictorias y a menudo binarias.
