In its new photographic exhibition "Helvecia. A Forgotten Colonial History", the MEG lifts the veil on a little known aspect of Swiss history. Although Switzerland has never had any countries under its domination, it has nevertheless collaborated with colonial powers in the appropriation of foreign lands and in the practice of slavery. The MEG exhibition presents an encounter with the inhabitants of Helvecia in Brazil, at the crossroads of a quest for identity and research into the past of this former Swiss colony.

This presentation is free of charge but registration is mandatory. Please write to publics-meg@ville-ge.ch with "HELVECIA visit for teachers 2 November" in the subject line and your contact details.
