Abel Selaocoe

South African cellist Abel Selaocoe is redefining the parameters of the cello. He moves seamlessly across a plethora of genres and styles, from collaborations with world musicians and beatboxers, to concerto performances and solo classical recitals. Abel combines virtuosic performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion, and has a special interest in curating recital programmes that highlight the links between Western and non-Western musical traditions, with a view to helping classical music reach a more diverse audience.

Modeste Hugues

Modeste Hugues, an award-winning singer songwriter and guitarist from Madagascar, is celebrated for his unique blend of traditional Malagasy sounds. His incredible live performances reveal memorable melodies and rhythms with hypnotic guitar and vocals.

Growing up in southern Madagascar, he built his own guitar, and loved to recreate the sound of village life (especially the marovany, a 24-stringed traditional instrument) and this developed into using Betrokan rhythms with the sounds of the bush. This reminiscent pallet is what he draws on when playing, and is the place that he returns to when performing.

The Nest Collective

They bring people together to experience extraordinary music in unforgettable places, rekindling connections with nature, tradition and community.

Founded in 2005 by Mercury-nominated artist Sam Lee, The Nest Collective began as a small gathering of music and folk lovers. Today, their vibrant programme features outstanding emerging and established folk, world and roots artists from across the globe.
