About the venue

1 Place Emile Goguenheim, 52000 Chaumont
  • Musée, salle d'exposition

Chaumont and the poster are bound(connected) by a common(shared) destiny since the donation of the deputy Gustave Dutailly - about 5000 old(former) posters - in 1905\. Representative of " the golden age " of the illustrated French poster, the collection Dutailly is one of the main public French collections in the domain. The rediscovery of this heritage in 1980s is at the origin of the creation of an international festival of poster – then of graphics(handwriting) which allowed the enrichment of the collection thanks to posters sent to competition(help) by graphic designers of all continents. The fund(collection) of contemporary posters of Chaumont includes about 45 000 emblematic rooms(parts, plays) of the best production of poster today at the international level in last decades. It is on the quality of this collection and the gratitude(recognition) of festival that developed project to implant in Chaumont the first permanent place in France devoted to graphics(handwriting).
