In 2025, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his death, the Flemish Museum pays tribute to one of the most important painters from Antwerp at the beginning of the 17th century: Jan Brueghel the Elder. As a specialist in landscapes, flowers, fruits and animals, Brueghel often uses the skills of his friend Hendrick van Balen to represent the figures. Thanks to numerous loans from the largest European museums and private collections, the Museum of Flanders is thus giving pride of place to the work of this unknown artist through the unique relationship he has forged with Jan Brueghel the Elder.

En 2025, à l’occasion du 400e anniversaire de sa mort, le musée de Flandre rend hommage à l’un des plus importants peintres anversois du début du 17e siècle : Jan Brueghel l’Ancien. Spécialiste des paysages, des fleurs, des fruits et des animaux, Brueghel s’adjoint souvent les compétences de son ami Hendrick van Balen pour représenter les figures. Grâce à de nombreux prêts des plus grands musées européens et de collections particulières, le musée de Flandre remet ainsi à l’honneur l’Œuvre de cet artiste méconnu au travers la relation unique qu’il a nouée avec Jan Brueghel l’Ancien.

In 2025, ter gelegenheid van de 400ste sterfdag, brengt het Vlaams Museum hulde aan een van de belangrijkste schilders uit Antwerpen aan het begin van de 17de eeuw: Jan Brueghel de oudere.
