At the end of the 18th century, in a Latin American colony, the judge Don Diego de Zama hoped for a letter from the viceroy of the Río de la Plata signifying his transfer to Buenos Aires. Suffering from distance and lack of recognition, he loses patience and, in order to free himself from his wait, sets out to chase a mysterious bandit.
