Unit Pengelola Museum Kebaharian Jakarta also commemorating International Day with helding a series of event which consist exhibition, seminar and a competition. The exhibition is held on 18th May - 13th June 2019 at Museum Bahari Jakarta with theme " Spice Market: Ancient Sense, Aromatic Tradition, Future Flavour". This exhibition presenting history of spices trades in Indonesia and the world, spices as trade commodities and potion, also spices as "future flavour" which visualized as attractive and interactive as possible. Aside from exhibition, the next event would be seminar on Thursday, 23rd May 2019, the seminar themed "Spices as Culture Hubs". The last event on this commemoration is the contest which will be opened on 18th May 2019 and the announcement of the winner on 25th May 2019. One of the contest is call for paper bringing out the theme "Spices as Future Commodity" and digital art "Spices in Our Tradition". Spices as Future Commodity means spice's existence in Indonesia once became main trade commodity. Until now, spices still have a role in some fields, such as foods, health, and cosmetic industry. Spice production in Indonesia still very powerful, as one of the biggest producer in the world, Indonesia have this potential to take the world spice market considering that many tradition is still using spices. Meanwhile, Digital Art Competition is expected to develop Museum Bahari's potency in technology of spreading and equity information. Because social media publication has unlimited scope and information spaces. The event of International Museum Day Commemoration by Museum Bahari "Spice Market: Ancient Sense, Aromatic Tradition, Future Flavour" expected to raise the public concern of museum's role in society development besides to be a contribution to science.
