Organised on 18 May each year, the present IMD is aimed at honouring museums’ collections, histories, legacies, and traditions to make them meaningful for next generations, communities, and an increasingly diverse contemporary audience.

To attract the local public attention to this international event, ICOM Azerbaijan holds interactive exhibitions and musical performances at the Park Boulevard Mall, 17th – 19th May 2019.

The program is compiled for different age groups of visitors, and it includes the concert of Azerbaijani traditional music and pieces of Azerbaijani classic music of 20th c., poetry readings, children theatrical performances, interactive demonstrations of traditional customs and carpet weaving.

The event is organised by a number of Baku’s museums: Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, National Museum of Azerbaijan History, Azerbaijan State Theatre Museum, Azerbaijan Customs History Museum, Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, Icherishahar Museum Centre, State Museum of Azerbaijani Musical Culture, Azerbaijan Museum of Independence, House Museum of Samad Vurgun, House-Museum of Leopold and Mstislav Rostropovich, House Museum of Uzeyir Hadjibeyli, Bulbul Memorial Museum.
