"Presences de Jean Vilar" (1912-1971). Permanent installation of the collections of the Jean Vilar Association. Biography, main lines of action and thought of the founder of the Festival d'Avignon (1947), director of the Théâtre National Populaire (1951-1963), presentation of models and costumes, manuscripts, correspondence, direction and service notes, posters, press kits, audiovisual screenings, etc. Designing theatre as a «public service», Jean Vilar, with his authentic virtues, nourishes reflection on the place of the living spectacle in society. It still contributes today to define the political stakes of the theatre and obliges a moral elevation.
