The Savonnerie du Midi wanted to highlight the action of the men and women of the battalion of marine firefighters of Marseille within its factory following the launch of a soap of Marseille realized for the battalion. This photo exhibition is based on a selection of unpublished photographs of the battalion.
This photo exhibition was inaugurated on July 5 in the cauldron room, in the presence of Vice-Admiral Lionel Mathieu.
About the venue
Labeled 'Company of Living Heritage', the Savonnerie du Midi is one of the last factories based in Marseille that designs the soap of Marseille according to the rules defined by the Edit de Colbert in 1688\. In the heart of the district of Aygalades, The soap is still made by the master soap makers who have been there for more than a century, around vast cauldrons.
