Chapelle de Saint-Maudé

The Chapel, dedicated to Saint Maudé, of Gothic style, was erected in 1431 by Alain X de Rohan thanks to the patronage of Duke Jean V and the help of the Quelen family of Broutay, at the site where were buried, it is said, the Bretons who died in the Battle of the Thirty, famous episode during the War of the Succession of Brittany in 1351\. The chapel is especially distinguished by the beautiful rose window that opens above the western portal: this one is divided into 2 bays separated by a trumpet with stoup under a full tympanum. The mullions of the bedside window, the western portal of two doors and surmounted by a hedge in the shape of oculus reflect the flamboyant style. The stained-glass windows are by Olivier Debré and date from 1996\. The carved sand pits are adorned with arms of the Rohan, Brittany, and France. There are also the weapons of the Quélen (with the holly).
