Located north of Vannes(gates,cracks), in three kilometres of the market town, the castle of Kerguéhennec is built at the heart of an exclusively rural region. On the vestiges of an old(former) manor (seigniory is certified in 1476), a castle sets itself up, in the first years of the 18th century, plans of which the architect vannetais Olivier Delourme would have given. The big(great) central main building, propped up by two detached houses(flags) in every end, is handled with the strictness of an architecture sensitive to the art of the engineer. The castle of Loyat, not far from there, builds at the same time, gives another interpretation(performance) which is close to it. That of Kerguéhennec is then property of a banker, shareholder of the Company of India, who stays for his business(affairs) there. From 1873 till 1876, the count Lanjuinais, deputy and chairman of the General Council of Morbihan, confides(entrusts) to the architect Trilhe of very important works of restoration(catering). Ernest-Félix Trilhe, old boy of Duban, finishes his(her) career(quarry) as honorary architect of the city of Paris; he(it) is then in vogue, having taken away(gained) two medals in international Exhibitions(Exposures) of 1857 and 1863\. All high parts(parties) of the castle are resumed(taken back). A pond is created in the centre of the composition trained(formed) there U by the castle and its common(shared) placing at right angles, definite(formal) arrangement(disposal) accentuated by the creation of a bell tower and of an entry porch in the axis médian which establishes(constitutes) the main entrance. The internal decoration(set) is entirely redone according to a taste influenced by the big(great) restorations(caterings) of Châteaux of the Loire and in fashion in Mansart. These transformations, executed with a financial contribution mattering from the owner, establish(constitute) a high quality evidence among many companies of restoration(catering) of castles of campaign(countryside) begun around 1840 in Brittany or in Anjou. The originality of project domiciles(resides) in use d' a castle of the 18th century, the aptitude(arrangements) of set(group) of which remains(subsists) and restoration(catering) of which respects spirit to a great extent. The domain of Kerguéhennec, which belongs at present to the departmental Council(Advise) of Morbihan, does not limit itself to this architectural ensemble, because the park, done up according to a project of E. Buhler, old(former) collaborator of Alphand, is a member(part) of a whole who manifests the artistic activity of the beginnings of the IIIth Republic. To note, the interest of the forest site and especially of the arboretum, where were crashed of sorts(species) native to North America and to South America.
