From the inauguration of the lines at the end of the 19th century, to the accidents of Jean Jaurès in 1895 and of Grisolles in 1908, passing through the two world conflicts and the difficult conjuncture of the Thirty Glorious, come and discover, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, our exhibition on the history of the railway in Tarn-et-Garonne. The presentation will be based on a selection of selected documents, in the form of a slideshow, exhibition panels and some originals, sometimes unknown, all kept in the Departmental Archives. Documents from the Tarn-et-Garonne Tramway Company, the Service des Ponts et Chaussées, and written accounts from the press will be highlighted, along with a rich iconography of plans and photographs.
The entrance will only be at 20 avenue of the 10th Dragons 82000 Montauban. This event will be an opportunity for you to stroll through our brand new space dedicated to educational service. During your visit you can ask all your questions to the staff present to welcome you.

The departmental archives have been installed since 1902 in a former normal school built between 1875 and 1877 at the initiative of the General Council. The rectilinear character of the building is enlivened by an alternation of stone and brick beds, inverted from one level to the other. However, part of the premises (western wing) was reserved from 1905 to 1927 for the service of assisted children, then, until 1978, for the TB clinic. In the late 1950s, a wave of work modernized the archives by installing self-supporting structures and metal shelving. In 1978, the archives took over the last wing of the building, after the departure of the dispensary.
