Water Music - Underwater concert

Underwater Concert: Pierre Sauvageot

4 performances 15H – 17H – 20H30 and a nocturnal at 22h In Italian, hearing is said to be "smell". Here, the public, in the bath of a swimming pool, the ears in the water, will «feel» the music, feel as much as listen to the vibrations by bone, by ostehony. In the water, no acoustics of the places, no echoes or reverberation, but a singular feeling of immensity and proximity. We are engulfed in the sound that whispers or invades us. The distances are abolished, the infinitely large and the infinitely small meet in the hollow of the ear. The sound moves four times faster in the water than in the air, our brain loses all its bearings. We find ourselves ALONE E S. In solo underwater, in a singular situation of a self-directed listener, even if we are part of a group, we listen to a piece performed by a soloist out of the water, but whose sounds are only audible in the aquatic universe, underwater. Mystery of technique, art of confinement, the composition takes everyone to a deep and intimate listening. Pierre Sauvageot also began Watermusic as a soloist. After works where he appeared as a composer, the performer plays with wind instruments, motion sensors and an electro-acoustic instrumentarium, so that each sound resonates in a musical vibration inside each submerged body. Because the sound matter is entirely related to the aquatic situation and carries a dramatic dimension: the songs of whales, fish or dolphins, runoff, drops, rock shocks, surf, sonars, foghorns, swallowing, breathing… everything is clearly in agreement between the musical text and the amniotic context. A co-production La Muse en Circuit.
