The Dunkirk LNG terminal, the second largest LNG terminal in continental Europe, is a major asset for the gas supply of France and North West Europe. The terminal, which does not own the gas molecule, stores and regasifies liquefied natural gas (LNG) discharged by LNG carriers before it is sent to the transportation system. LNG is emerging as an alternative energy to significantly more polluting fuels in the transport, both marine and road, and industrial sectors, contributing to the energy transition and improved air quality.
