The Castle Square has long been the place of representation of religious power. It is surrounded by monumental facades built over the centuries: the cathedral to the north, the Fustel-de-Saintes High School to the east, the Rohan Palace and the Maison de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame to the south, and the former Imperial School of Military Health to the west.
An information stand on the European Heritage Days will be held in the square.
