The Abbatial Palace, next to the Saint-Pierre church, is located in the heart of the canonical district of the Nobles Dames de Remiremont. It was built for the first time in 1394, then destroyed by the earthquake of 1682. When Abbess Anne-Charlotte of Lorraine was appointed to head the prestigious women’s chapter of Remiremont, she had the building rebuilt. The architect from Nancy, Jean-Nicolas Jeannesson, was to be the architect; it took him 4 years from 1752 to 1756 to accomplish this task. The result recalls the classical architectures of the Dukes of Lorraine. The Palace has 3 distinct facades: the facade in the shape of a fan overlooking the private garden of the Abbess called Jardin des Olives, the entrance to the Place de l'Abbaye which was completely redesigned after the French Revolution and presents a unique style in homage to the Napoleonic campaigns and the last one which opens on the Place Mesdames, where you can see a beautiful paved courtyard and an old cooler that used
