Saint-Avold receives the biggest(greatest) American military cemetery of the Second World War in Europe. Here rest(base) 10489 soldiers and American airmen fallen during battles in the cross-border regions. A chapel mémoriale decorated with allegories on freedom as well as a large belvedere carried by an eagle representing the American nation overhang crosses and white marble stars of David. His(Her,Its) construction was ended in 1960.
