Church Saint-Michel
Built on a rock, the church Saint-Michel is an old(former) prieurale church, based(established) from 1090 by Benedictines depending on Luxeuil. The South remains(subsists) of this time(period) only of big(great) Romance arcades on the external wall. Become parish church in XVI è century, she(it) should then be extended. The bell tower, the lateral altars and the woodworks of the chorus(choir) date the XVIIIth century. She(It) contains a remarkable polychrome wooden entombment, of Rhenish style, the end of the XVth century, as well as a delightful picture(board), in the past thought miraculous of Notre-Dame in twelve stars, at the end of the XVIth century and a beautiful saint Michel, polychrome wood of the XVIIth century. His(Her,Its) organ, recently renovated, is of Nicolas Antoine Lété (1844). Beautiful modern stained-glass window in the chorus(choir): symbol of resurrection.
Behind the Church, in front of the Monument to the Deaths, it is possible to see an old(former) carriage entrance framed(supervised) by two Romanic pillars: it was the entrance(entry) and the last vestige of the Priory Benedictine.
As a rule(In principle) the church is every day opened. When it is closed, to ask Mr Michel Poulet, house in front of the church in 61, street of the Town hall.
