Unusually, for these 2 days, the workshop(studio) of Potez 36 will open its doors to the visitors!
Potez 36
Instituted in 1936 by Popular Front to produce more accessible(approachable) the practice of the air sports, and set up by the Prime Minister of air Pierre Cot, the popular aviation had as main objective to supply to the rising(new) Air Force of the flight crew.
Henry Potez, precursor in the aviation of leisures with Potez 36, offered then the ideal plane for the training(formation) of the future military pilots(drivers) and so, numerous flying clubs had as first flying machine Potez 36.
Unfortunately, the beginning of war in 1939 put an end to the popular aviation and a good many of planes used by flying clubs were requisitioned by the Air Force as planes of connections and of observations. A big(great) part(party) will not survive it, as many(a lot) young pilots(drivers) died for France, that, a few years earlier, learnt to fly around an airfield with Potez 36 as first setting.
Potez 36-13
Version endowed with the engine of Potez 36-5 and with beaks of safety(security). The first one of 96 copies left the ground in June, 1931. He(It) stays only 2 copies there: that of the Museum of Air and of Space of Bourget, and that, sold to the European museum of the fighter command of Montélimar (Drôme) for restoration(catering). (F-PEVA since 1957, eg. F-AMEI n°3203 built in 1932)
Potez 36-13 n ° 3203
With the help of sir Christian RAVEL, who found in the archives of the museum of GPPA (Grouping for the Conservation of Aicraft Heritage) the file(case) " DGAC " (Directorate General Civil Aviation) of the device, we know its history(story) exactly, since the demand(request) of registration for the French register up to its radiation.
Built in 1932 in Meaulte in factories Potez with the number of series 3203, our aeroplane should be registered F-AMEI in the course of the first half-year 1933 becoming so the second device of the flying club of Bourg-en-Bresse. At that time, the plane should be called "City of Market town".
In the war statement(declaration), accident victim on the ground of Vennes, he(it) will be transported on the aerodrome of Lyons to undergo works of repairs there. In 1940, the device will be put in bad weather on the aerodrome of Bron among other devices. At liberation, the device is got back by the flying club of Bourg-en-Bresse and, facing difficulties, it is sold to sir Gilbert BELIN who flies it on the ground of Besançon-Thise.
It passes(spends, crosses) then under the register of planes in CNRA (Certificate of Navigability Restrained by Plane) with registration F-PEVA on August 8th, 1955 and will be sold this year to the flying club of Méry-sur-Oise. Having damaged following a wooden horse (or head with tail), on the aerodrome of Méry-sur-Oise, Potez 36 was removed from registers in 1959. Bought by the family Coutereau, this one is going to begin(undertake) the collection of one very large number of spare parts, resulting(coming) from wrecks of Potez 36, with the intention of restoring this device which will be put for sale with all stock of spare parts in 2002.
The European Museum of the Fighter command of Montélimar came purchaser of the set(group) in March of the same year, and since then, Potez 36-13 number of series 3203 is in restoration(catering) in the workshops(studios) of the museum. He(It) will be, in the coming years, unique(only) Potez 36-13 in state of flight(theft).
This day, on some 250 built Potez 36, he(it) stays only three copies in world there:

  • Potez 36-14 who(which) is in the hall of Albert's station
  • Potez 36-13 who(which) is exposed(explained) to the Museum of Air and of Space of Bourget
  • [STOP_TRANSLATION]le Potez 36-13 qui est en cours de restauration au Musée Européen de l'Aviation de Chasse de Montélimar et classé au titre des monuments historiques en décembre 2012
