Discovery of the collections of art champenois of the 16th century and of bonnèterie

Having bought by the City of Troy in 1932 to make a decorative, secondary art museum of the Museum of Fine Arts and of Archaeology, Natural history museum, the old(former) hotel of Vauluisant shelters currently two museums: the art museum champenois of the 16th century and the museum of Bonnèterie. Concerning the first part, collections contain rooms(parts,plays) of the Beautiful XVIth century s. champenois: painted panels(signs), statues and stained-glass windows illustrate the subtle passage of the aesthetics of Gothic in its peak, in that, emergent and more precious of Renaissance. The painting(paint) reflects Italian and Scandinavian influence. In sculpture, all trends(tendencies) of the century are represented: Master(Teacher) de Chaource, Jacques Juliot, Dominique Florentin. The stained-glass window shines with its last fires(lights) with the works of Linard Gontier (didactic exhibition(exposure)).
For the bonnèterie, collections evoke the most emblematic activity of Troy, European city(estate) of the stitch. Ancestral know-how and textile creation. Wooden jobs(businesses) in machines improved by ’"golden age" of the XIXth and XXth century s. From articles in stitch: in the bottoms(stockings), socks, shirts and panties and marks(brands) (Small boat, Lacoste, DD) conjugate technical and aesthetic.

Located facing portal(gate) of the church Saint-Pantaléon, the Hotel of Vauluisant is one of the rare stone buildings of the city of Troy. He(It) presents a rich facade typical of architecture Renaissance, with his(its) decoration(set) of front walls(pediments), cartouches(cartridges), cherubs, garlands. Two turrets frame(supervise) this detached house(flag) the 16th century, from which the one shelters a staircase with screw. The conical roofs are adorned with elegant ears of ridgepole topped with a sun and with a moon. He(It) is built in the location of a convent which depended on the cistercienne abbey from Vauluisant (Yonne) to the 12esiècle. In 1524, this house is destroyed by the fire which devastates a lot of the city of Troy. By 1550, Antoine Hennequin builds the detached house(flag) with turrets. The body of the building(ship) in return for carpenter's square is raised(brought up) to the 17th century by the famous family Mesgrigny which leaves the building(ship) in 1826\. During many years, it is the seat(siege) of the Trojan Great circle which organises balls and other festivities there.
