The Local Living Room

Space, belonging, family, community, light. Where do we belong? Who is our family? What is home?

In a world of chaos, crisis and tension the question of “home” touches us all. Through sharing her personal story and in the spirit of La Semaine Culturelle at La Sorbonne, Hope Curran invites you to participate in an interactive installation where visitors can reflect on their own definition of “home”.

The Local Living room is an experience. As a Californian in Paris, Hope seeks to create spaces of rest, community and belonging where people can feel at home. Through a simple installation of a rug, table and snacks to share in La Sorbonne Art Gallery she and the artists of Paris 1 welcome guests to a space to share our stories of home and learn to listen to others. All are invited to come share ideas, poems, songs, experiences and inspiration throughout the week.

Finding hope here at home…

Hope Curran is a Californian raised poet and photographer. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in Art and Global Studies Hope is now a student at La Sorbonne getting a masters in Fine Arts. She has lived in Paris for two years working with Agapé and Transform Arts along the themes of home, community, hope and light.
