On Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 6:30 PM, the Culture Space of the Cité scientifique campus in Villeneuve d'Ascq hosts the conference Solid? Liquid? The behaviour of the subject in question, presented by Patrick Cordier, professor at the University of Lille and researcher at the UMET laboratory (Materials and Processing Unit), with Bernard Maitte responding. In partnership with ALEA (Association L'Esprit d'Archimède), this conference explores the paradoxes of state changes and properties of matter: solids that liquefy (amorphisation), solids that flow over long time (creep) and viscoelastic liquids behaving like solids.

Le mardi 18 novembre 2025 à 18h30, l’Espace culture du campus Cité scientifique à Villeneuve d’Ascq accueille la conférence Solide ? Liquide ? Le comportement de la matière en question, présentée par Patrick Cordier, professeur des universités à l’Université de Lille et chercheur au laboratoire UMET (Unité matériaux et transformation), avec Bernard Maitte en répondant. En partenariat avec ALEA (Association L’Esprit d’Archimède), cette conférence explore les paradoxes des changements d’état et des propriétés de la matière : solides qui se liquéfient (amorphisation), solides qui s’écoulent sur le temps long (fluage) et liquides viscoélastiques se comportant comme des solides.

Op dinsdag 18 november 2025 om 18:30 uur organiseert de Cultuurruimte van de wetenschappelijke campus Cité in Villeneuve d'Ascq de conferentie Solid? Vloeibaar? Het gedrag van het onderwerp in kwestie, gepresenteerd door Patrick Cordier, hoogleraar aan de Universiteit van Lille en onderzoeker aan het UMET-laboratorium (Materials and Processing Unit), met Bernard Maitte als reactie. In samenwerking met ALEA (Association L'Esprit d'Archimède) onderzoekt deze conferentie de paradoxen van toestandsveranderingen en eigenschappen van materie: Vaste stoffen die vloeibaar zijn (amorfiëring), vaste stoffen die over lange tijd stromen (kruip) en viscoelastische vloeistoffen die zich als vaste stoffen gedragen.
