"Bruegel face au pouvoir" by Christian Defebvre
From 1556 to 1598, Philip II imposed despotic political tutelage and religious intransigence on the Spanish Netherlands. Recent works by historians reveal the very clever way in which Pieter Bruegel denounced the power of his time. This conference therefore takes an unprecedented look at the spiritual journey of the painter and his work in connection with the 500th anniversary of the artist’s birth.
Rates: €5 for the Friends of La Piscine / €8 normal rate / €3 students and job seekers
The lectures are given on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Daniel Motte auditorium at La Piscine (it is wise to arrive a little early).

"Bruegel face au pouvoir" par Christian Defebvre
De 1556 à 1598, Philippe II impose une tutelle politique despotique et une intransigeance religieuse aux Pays-Bas espagnols. De récents travaux d’historiens révèlent la manière très astucieuse qu’utilisait Pieter Bruegel pour dénoncer le pouvoir de son époque. Cette conférence porte donc un regard inédit sur l’itinéraire spirituel du peintre et sur son oeuvre En lien avec le 500ème anniversaire de la naissance de l’artiste.
Tarifs : 5€ pour les Amis de La Piscine / 8€ tarif normal / 3€ étudiants et demandeurs d’emploi
Les conférences sont données le dimanche à 15h 30 à l’auditorium Daniel Motte à La Piscine (il est prudent d’arriver un peu à l’avance).

"Bruegel tegenover macht" van Christian Defebvre
Van 1556 tot 1598 legde Philip II het Spaanse Nederland despotische politieke tutelage en religieuze onverzettelijkheid op. Recent werk van historici onthult de zeer slimme manier waarop Pieter Bruegel de kracht van zijn tijd aan de kaak stelde. Op deze conferentie wordt dan ook een ongekend beeld gegeven van de spirituele reis van de schilder en zijn werk in verband met de 500ste geboortedag van de kunstenaar.
Prijzen: 5€ voor vrienden van het zwembad / 8€ normaal tarief / 3€ studenten en werkzoekenden
Lezingen worden gegeven op zondag om 15 uur 30 in het Daniel Motte auditorium bij het zwembad (het is verstandig om een beetje van tevoren te arriveren).
